A test of courage met with equal parts trembling and giggling.

The straws are drawn.
One among us shall pull the shortest.
One among us shall embark.
One among us shall pretend this is exactly what they wished for.

The chosen pilgrim always returns smiling — cold, weary, smelling faintly of greenery… but smiling. Because once you’ve stood among mistletoe at dawn, you understand the quiet magic of it. The true beginning of Christmas.
